Review Detail
2016 Churchview Estate St Johns Limited Release Viognier
Wine Rating
94
A wine that has been fermented with wild yeast and barrel aged in French oak. The wine making effort, risk and cost has been repaid with a Viognier of great balance and complexity.
A light yellow in the glass the nose has apricot, citrus blossom and aromatic ginger. Viognier can sometimes be cloying, but the balance between citrus acidity and richer apricot fruit is impeccably managed. Citrus fruits frame the finish with background musk and a combination of wood and ginger spice giving layers of complexity.
Well worth the asking price.
